Character(s) Played: Sunset Shimmer (CRAU)

IC
Name: Chloe Bourgeois
Canon: Miraculous Ladybug (CRAU: Empatheias)
Canon Point: Episode: End of Miraculer, then CRAU.
Age: 15
Appearance: Basic human girl
Queen Bee
Kwami: Pollen

Abilities: Chloe as herself is a human girl. She's acrobatic thanks to years of dance and she's a beginner sword fighter. She has an indomitable will if motivated, and has very good emotional control thanks to practice with the emotion power in her CRAU.

With the help of Pollen, she can transform into Queen Bee. This comes with enhanced physical abilities, such as being able to not die while trying to stop a subway train with her body and managing to slow it down some. An impenetrable suit (though not impact nor magic proof), and unbreakable weapon (not magic proof), and a device that allows things like communications, various binoculars, store data, trackers, and it's like a cell phone except it can also hack things. There is also a glamour of sorts with the suit that, while not foolproof, and definitely can't fight irrefutable evidence, it does prevent people from making the connection easily between identities.

Venom: The ability to paralyze literally anything. However, it's only for a few minutes, and she can only use it once before needing to detransform and feed Pollen. She can only transform while in possession of her Miraculous and Pollen is able to hear her.

Pollen: Kwami friend. She cannot be recorded by technology, is under the command of whoever owns her Miraculous (bee hair comb), can phase through matter, float, and is also able to paralyze literally anything, but it's wildly out of control when she does it, so she wouldn't unless the circumstances are very dire.

(Optional) Personality:

She is a bitch. No one who meets Chloe will think she's a nice girl unless they have they have the most optimistic view of people and even that would be unlikely. Chloe isn't afraid to say what she thinks, she will insult and deride people. She's petty, spiteful, and holds grudges and at time can be quite cruel.

However, her cruelty has become only an occasional thing. She is still petty and spiteful, but her reactions are a lot more reasonable in recent months then most of her life. Chloe has recognized that being needlessly cruel won't get her what she wants, and what she wants is to be useful and accepted.

Chloe at her core is someone who does not believe she has her own worth. If she is not exceptional, she is nothing, and she is so terrified of being nothing that she overcompensates with arrogance. If she acts like she's the most important thing in the room, then maybe one day she will be. However, she has since learned to find satisfaction and self actualization thanks to hero work.

Chloe realizes hero work is risky business, and that she's able to do things and survive things others can't, so its her responsbility to do so. She's also since been able to adopt a mask of something that's nicer, if still incredibly sassy and prone to her temper. And the part of her that's kind has flourished more with it.

Very recently though, Chloe has come to terms with the consequences of her actions and is inclined to attempt to be at least a little nicer as herself. This is likely to be a struggle, but it's something she's determined to try.

Chloe is also extremely loyal and when she loves someone, as rare as it is, she loves them with her whole heart. She will do anything and everything for them, for better or worse. Its this same loyalty that allowed her to say no to dark mind control magic when literally no one else ever has. Her will power is off the charts, as long as she doesn't want to do anything at all.

In the end, what Chloe is, is someone whose finally starting to mature. She spent her recent years having childish tantrums and poor impulse control for her wants and refusing to see reality for what it is. After her time in Empatheias (mostly the city of Verens), she has recognized some of her bad habits, learned a little bit of hard work, and how to be a better hero, and it's helping even out her more volatile traits.

Pollen: Pollen is overly polite, formal, and friendly, and that's more or less all we know about her. She's been on screen maybe a full five minutes counting her in the background shots.

History: Chloe's mother took fourteen years to remember her name on the first try and it was to say nothing was exceptional about her on a live newsfeed after she had a magical breakdown. Chloe's father is a wealthy hotel owner and the mayor of Paris who got his office by less than legal means who gives her anything she asks for. Chloe's oldest friend is one Adrien Agreste, a boy so kind he would later be entrusted to not abuse the power of ultimate destruction. With these influences in her life, Chloe has always been a mess of a person.

At first glance, Chloe was just a bratty rich kid. She bullied, she manipulated, she called daddy to solve her problems. Her favorite target was Marinette Dupain-Cheng. No one meets Chloe and expects to see greater depths, to the point that when Adrien was finally allowed to go to public school, most kids assumed he'd be a terrible brat. No one understands why they're friends. Chloe was used to no one saying no to her and getting away with everything.

Then the magical terrorist Hawk Moth came to town, and everytime someone had a bad day, he'd use dark magic to turn them into a supervillain. It could be as petty as wanting a toy to as serious as a career ruining incident. Unfortunately, Chloe was really good at making bad days, making her more or less the Lois Lane of Ladybug (Marinette Dupain-Cheng), and Chat Noir (Adrien Agreste). Chloe was the first person Ladybug ever saved and since that day, Chloe had been admiring her and crushing on her hard. Unfortunately she never learned to be nicer until the day came where Adrien had enough with Chloe's antics and told her they couldn't be friends until she started being nicer.

Adrien is, unfortunately, a doormat, so when Chloe showed she could be nicer, he rolled back the ultimatum. However, while she wasn't 'nice,' she was less cruel and made far less bad days.

Then Chloe found the Bee Miraculous after Ladybug dropped it. The Miraculous is what allowed the heroes to transform and Chloe was eager to join them. Unfortunately right after, Chloe's mother acknowledge Marinette as exceptional and invited her to New York and then insulted Chloe in front of everyone, causing Chloe to break down and reveal her identity as Queen Bee on the news. She ends up causing a runaway subway to try and save it in her break down and keeps getting worse until Hawk Moth targets her and when she's stopped, it leads to a serious mixed message situation.

Ladybug and Chat Noir offer her compassion and understanding, forgiveness and encouragement, and Chloe apologizes for her actions, and seems to take their words to heart. And then Marinette, trying to help, talks up Chloe to her mother. By calling Chloe exceptionally mean. Getting Chloe the acknowledgement she was desperate for from her mother. By being cruel.

What follows is Chloe in a constant state of not knowing who she wants to be. She wants to be a hero, she wants her mother's love, these things couldn't exist at once. She would cause problems, and help solve them, and others, and keep hoping to be Queen Bee, to be more, except she revealed her identity and Ladybug thought recruiting her was too risky. She unfortunately avoided telling her about this which left Chloe vulnerable to Hawk Moth trying to get her again, but Chloe manages to say no. Which just got her friend/personal assistant taken instead. Chloe helps save Sabrina, while repeatedly telling the villains she was loyal to Ladybug.

Only to have Ladybug tell her she may never be Queen Bee again. Chloe accepts this with a heavy heart, and is about to hand back the Miraculous.

When she arrives in Verens. Suddenly without money, reputation, or her usual conveniences, while still holding a Miraculous, Chloe is put into a tough spot. She doesn't know if she should use the Miraculous or not, unsure if it's allowed without permission, and not wanting to disappoint Ladybug. Luckily, Adrien was there! Unluckily, Marinette was too. Still, they helped her adjust and she wa able to find a job selling make up.

She also found out Adrien was dating Marinette. Which was rough after her years long crush on her childhood friend. However, Adrien was happy, and for Chloe, that mattered more than her own feelings. It was her first step to maturity as she at least attempted to get along better with Marinette. She wouldn't say friends, but at least civil to each other and even got her a Christmas present.

The next step comes when Chloe uses her Miraculous for the first time. She comes across Chat Noir under a corrupting mist, attacking people. Knowing Chat Noir wouldn't want to be a villain, she provokes him and transforms. Chat Noir ends up setting a building on fire to get rid of her and Chloe, for the first time, has to face the fact she could actually die. Since in Paris, Ladybug was able to use her powers to fix all the damage caused by a villain. Chloe could have run, but someone else would have definitely died and refusing to be a coward, was able to save them and herself. She then spent days keeping Chat Noir on the run to minimize his damage, proving to both Marinette and Adrien that, at the very least, Chloe was genuinely trying.

So when she run into Ladybug finally, she was allowed to keep her Miraculous. It was safer, and she had kept her identity secret this time. So for months, Chloe was slowly learning to be better. She would regularly act as a hero, helping people with dangers and day to day problems. As Chloe, she was finally learning how to work for herself, the value of a dollar, and how she couldn't just overrun people. She even learned how to be polite a little bit! She made friends, learned lessons, decided to learn to sword fight, leaned how to use the emotion magic of the world, and overall, growing up.

Near the end, Ladybug and Chat Noir decided to trust Queen Bee and Carapace with their secret identities. Since it would help with anything they still needed to do in that world, and to prove they trusted them. Which was a shock to Chloe, but she was eager to learn. Carapace would also reveal his identity. Chloe, however, was already known, which just made it all a bigger surprise.

And then she found out Ladybug, who she had a crush on, was Marinette. She ended up outing an identity after all after revealing her crush because even if she was getting along with Marinette, it wasn't 'be okay crushing on her' level. Which distracted her until she realized Adrien was Chat Noir.

Which is when almost every crime Chloe had committed in canon decided to hit her in the head. Every supervillain, everytime she was corrupted, the time he was literally dying to protect her in Miraculer, hit her and hit her hard. Because it was one thing when a stranger superhero was risking their lives to save her. That's just their job. Adrien was her friend. Adrien was the person Chloe would give her all to make happy and the one she wanted to protect. And he had been almost dying to protect her from her own mistakes.

Hawk Moth may have given them superpowers, but she was the one who never let that risk stop her cruelty. She promised then to try and be better, to be a nicer person even as Chloe, because she could have lost him at any moment, and she refused to make that mistake again.
Then finally, it was time to go home. Too bad Chloe got stolen.

Sample(s):

Chloe grew up on fairy tales. Chloe had always loved stories of royalty, especially ones with princesses being clever or brave. Her and Adrien spent many days running around her father's hotel playing knights and princesses and princes. The love of fairy tales turned to love of anime and comics and so many more, but she never lost her love of fairy tales. The kind ones, sure, but also the cruel ones.

Chloe knew about fairies. She had believed in them long before Pollen had come into her life and proved without a doubt that magic was real. Ladybug and Chat Noir could be debated as aliens or secret technology, but tiny little being who transforms her into what is really closer to a magical girl than a classic superhero was definitely magic.

She knows there are rules.

"My Queen, you must drink something."

"But drinking or eating in the fairy world means getting trapped there. Take in fairy things and be there forever," Chloe asid.

"It is transformed food that is dangerous, at least those of our world."

Chloe paused at that. She looked at Pollen in surprise. "Wait, you've met fairies?"

"Oh yes! I would talk with them if we had any dealings, I was always the best at understanding etiquette," Pollen said with a nod. "But this is not ours. This is like Verens, another world. The rules may be different."

"....you think so?" Chloe asked, licking her too dry lips.

"It might be better to look at the fairy realm and the human one have a sort of trade deal. This realm is outside of that trade deal, so our world does not necessarily have to respect its rules. Its just this world doesn't have to respect our world's rules either," Poelln explained.
Chloe frowned. She kind of got that. She was still a little vague on businesses dealings, but she'd been learning more and more lately. It made sense in a way. Ultimately alternate dimensions were wholly alien instead of kind of alien, but still in the system. A business deal between two companies meant they had to adhere to the deal's rules. This was like a third, wholly unrelated company.

"....please, my Queen. You can't go on like this," Poellns aid softly.

Chloe looked at Pollen. It was still a scary thing. It was a real risk. But Pollen looked at her with such concern, Pollen has been trying her best to support her efforts and help her in her new ways of survival. And if Chloe passed...

What would happen to her Miraculous. Right, right, this wasn't just about her. This was also about Pollen. What kind of hero would she be if she let Pollen get dragged down because she was afraid.

No, she refused. She refused to live in fear. She'd have to be careful, but she wouldn't let herself be cowed by anyone! If these fairies were gonna play with her, she would make them regret it. She was Chloe Bourgeois! She was Queen Bee! She was better than this.

She took a shaky breath. "Okay, but we're doing it my way," she said and started through the village. She was taking risks, but it seemed like when it came to deals, fairies were all the same. She just had to be patient, waiting as she moved through the market. There is always one, there is always one-

There. Someone carrying too much, and Chloe glanced around. She picked up a rock, waiting until the angle was good and she rolled it forward with the right timing for the person to step on the unstable stone.

Start to fall.

And Chloe moves in quick, catching the person and stabilizing the items before they fell. Far different from her usual sit back and laugh, but it gets her what she needs. "Watch out there," she said. "Good thing I was able to help you," she added, showing a little more teeth in her smile.

The person looked nervous at the smile. Chloe was still good at managing to put on airs of importance and refusal to be denied.

"Let me help you get these back. Perhaps you can pay me back with something I'd like to drink," she added and she sees the relief at such an easy repayment.

Chloe may be trying to be nicer, but she would be a fool to let that pursuit get in the way of her surviving. Plus it wasn't like she was being THAT mean, right?
